Hey guys,

I just joined up with the 1,000-1,000 challenge for my blog at http://www.roguescope.com, and the blog itself is located on the Introspect menu tab. The rest of the website is dedicated to my travel photography, wallpapers, and more.

The RogueScope blog and website went live a little over a month ago and I've been working pretty diligently to try and improve SEO and to put relevant ads (through AdSense, if it'll cooperate) where I can. Nonetheless, I feel as though generating traffic (outside of false traffic such as browsershots) and especially CTR and all of that from AdSense is way above my head. I'm hoping, after introducing myself here, to really dig into the forums to find out what I can do to get that edge.

Also, one of the menu items on RogueScope is Other Blogs, which is a growing Travel Blog Directory. It allows me to provide readers with other blogs as well as an ability to ask for linkbacks from those I have linked to. If you want to be listed and wouldn't mind giving me a linkback, feel free to email me at roguescope@gmail.com and I would be very happy to add you. I know TBC is going to be posted on the Directory as well shortly.

Best regards and I'm happy to be here!

we joined a few weeks ago. love the idea and the spirit of the challenge.

we are avg about 100 unique visits a day and ab out 300 page views a day. But we are not quite two months old so hopefully that will improve. My wife does 90% of the writing and I do more backend SEO, layout stuff. I am learning a TON and am seeing great results from the info here. Thanks all!

Hello everyone.

My name is Alouise and my site is http://www.travelerahoy.com. My website has gone through many incarnations, first as a personal MySpace page, then moving to WordPress and finally I went self-hosted in February. Although I've been blogging off and on for two years I still feel like a newbie in many ways. There's a lot of things I don't know about, mostly in the website/design area, so I'm always willing to join up with travel blogging communities like this one to learn new things.

My goal for website was to first just share my travel tales. But now I want to show people that travelling isn't as hard as people think it is. I think a lot of non-traveller get intimidated by travelling. Some people think they have to be rich, or they have to quit their jobs and move to Mongolia or some place. But you don't have to go big or go home. It isn't a one or the other type of situation. You can travel if you have a home base, you can travel to the other side of the world or just to the next province, state, county, or country. It doesn't really matter as long as you make a point to travel whenever you can – and to not let fear prevent you from staying home

Currently I'm going to school for Professional Writing at Grant Macewan University in Edmonton, Alberta. I'm in a 4 year program and will only be starting year 2 in September. I'm hoping to find a study abroad placement for this winter. But in the mean time I try to travel whenever I can.

Looking forward to doing the 1000-1000 Challenge, and of course learning from, and connecting with the travel blogging community.

Hi Marcie,

Welcome to the challenge! I love both areas of the world so I hope you keep up with the Caribbean side of things too :) I know that I always take for granted the places I live and think others are not as excited about them because I have become so used to them!

Hello Fellow Travel Bloggers,

I'm excited about this latest
challenge.

About 3 years ago, I started my blog intending to focus on Jamaica and the Caribbean but it never got off the ground. Then last year, I went with 2 of my friends to South Africa. It was such a wonderful experience, there were so many stories, so
many highlights to recount, I figured the best way was to blog it and have friends and family read at their leisure. So my blog in its current form took shape.

Since I've been back from SA, all I think about is the next adventure. I've always wanted to do a trip around the world, just trying to figure
out how to pay for it and me. I still plan on blogging about the Caribbean — my back yard, so to speak.

But until I do, I'm sharing my experiences building
my blog to be the best it can be so I welcome this 1000-1000 Challenge.

Looking forward to reaching my new goal, meeting other travel bloggers and sharing their experiences.

Thanks, Todd, for creating this challenge.

Hi to Everyone Cool

I've been hanging around here for quite some time and didn't realize about this section of the forum :-)

Hi, I'm Flip from the Philippines and I blog at http://www.flipnomad.com. I got into blogging last October 2009 after my first solo backpacking trip in Southeast Asia and South Asia for six months. My desire to get back on the road and live a nomadic lifestyle pushed me to search the internet for possible options to earn money without going back to my insane and boring corporate life.

After a year and a half of blogging, I'm now back on the road and I'm currently in Luang Prabang as of the time of writing and still learning new stuff about online ventures. I recently launched another website - http://www.philippinetravelforum.com which is my personal project  to help my fellow Filipinos to travel by providing a venue where they could share tips and tricks about travelling.

Hello everyone :)

I have just started blogging in the past few months and my goals have been very fluffy and vague, until now! I'm well up for the challenge and I know it's going to be far from easy but I sense a good community spirit amongst us.

In a few months time I will be leaving all I have ever known, on a one-way ticket out of England. I'd love you to join me at Man Versus Clock

Good luck, guys and gals.

Hi Una,

There is no nav bar for readers to find their way around the site. When I get to a post it seems I only have the option to click the back button to see previews of other posts or side bar navigation to generalized info.

You have some really sweet content. I think it would be beneficial to have an easy way to access it.

If you need any help with coding just give me a shout. I am always glad to help out fellow TBCers. You are using the WP theme Magazine Premium. It might seem that it is limited as far as how you can customize it at first but when you dig into the code a little bit you can really do tons of things you may never have realized.

Code is one of those things that people shy away from because it looks complicated. I would be more than happy to show you some tricks or answer any questions you might have for things you would like to accomplish on your site.

Thanks for the warm welcome Todd.

And thanks for visiting Mike. I'd love to hear what you found confusing about the navigation and any suggestions. I did start with a template so there are limits to the customization, but I'm definitely looking to make improvements. (and get a better handle on adding custom code, etc.)

Side note: My site is hosted by Bravenet (from Vancouver) if anyone is looking for a new hosting service I'd recommend them. The reason I'm mentioning this is because their analytics service is really good and reliable.

Welcome Una.

I really enjoyed your photos of Iceland.  After looking at them I felt like I was there.

I was a little confused with the navigation on the blog and not sure why it is aligned to the left. But it looks like you will have a great blog there.

Cheers

Hi Una, great to see you hear and welcome to the Challenge. We have a nice little community of travel bloggers forming here so feel free to connect with others, come up with your own ideas on how the TBC can help each other better, and or take on leadership roles. I really want the TBC to help each other out and be a place where we can all call home.

Hello all!

I'm a brand new blogger from Toronto, Canada who loves a challenge, so I'm coming along for a ride.

My site created a bit of a buzz recently with our travel video from Iceland and I've been working hard to keep the content fun and useful ever since. Everything from trip photo galleries, souvenir suggestions, roadtrip playlists, outfits to pack … to dusted-off slides from my dad's trips in the 70s and dessert shop recommendations.

Come visit…

Good luck & great to meet you all.

Welcome Claire, its great to see you here! And this also reminds me that we need to have a blog fest where we get all the Challengers together (online or in post) to get to know each other better. We have grown a lot in just the past 4 months and I think is time to see where we are.

Hi everyone! I'm Claire Algarme from the Philippines. My travel blog has been two years now but just recently, I moved from a free hosted site to my new domain, http://firsttimetravels.com, which is less than a month old. As I stated in my post, this challenge is very timely to boost visits to my new site. This site is a good way to bring together bloggers to work for a common goal. I hope that I'll be able to meet the challenge and be able to support others to do likewise. :)
