Hi everyone!

My name is Greg and I'm over at The Misadventurer. I've been traveling for the last 6 years, visited 28 countries so far, lived in South Korea, Italy and currently in China. I've worked on 6 cruise ships, which really helped satiate some of my hunger for new places, and always on the look out for the next exciting opportunity.

People say that my knack for talking my way out of trouble is only surpassed by my ability to talk my way INTO trouble. And it's that skill that brings a smile to my face everyday :)

My site has always been more of a journal to keep my friends and family up to date with what's going on, but as my traveling has slowed down (my time here in China has been the longest I've been in one place for the last 6 years!) I'd like to make a shift and develop it into something more.

Ultimately, I'd like to see it as a resource for not only inspiration and entertainment, but also planning, coping, and broadening one's travel experiences.

And I think this challenge is certainly a great way to put things into perspective and kick my ass (and I'm sure many other's) into gear.

Great idea, and I look forward to brainstorming and conversing with all of you!

I can always be reached at @TheMisadventrer on twitter!

Good to see so familiar faces/Twitter handles!

I'm Caroline and my blog is Caroline in the City. I've been writing for almost two years now, but just recently started taking steps to have more readers than just my immediate family :)

I'm currently averaging 100 page views per day, so 1000 seems like a lot to me! And as far as $1,000 per month goes, I work part time at a restaurant and do freelance writing as much as I can. I am leaving for a working holiday in Australia in 2 weeks, so I may have the biggest challenge of my blogging career ahead of me.

I'm always looking for tips for my blog, since I just now switched to WordPress.com until I figure out WordPress.org. I've got more experience with writing, having written for The Charleston City Paper, The Sunday Paper, Uptake.com, Examiner.com and guest posts on countless blogs.

So far, I've been to France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Italy, Germany, England, Ireland, Croatia, Canada, USA, Mexico, The Cayman Islands and Thailand and I only just graduated from college in May. I've got a lot more of the world to see.

Why hello there!

We're Shaun and Erica from Over Yonderlust and we've come to join you guys on the 1000-1000 adventure.

We started our blog in March 2010 and are coming up on our 1 year anniversary. While we have come quite a ways, I am looking forward to going even further with you guys in 2011.

We’re childhood sweethearts traveling the world the same way we’ve traveled through life: no regrets, no missed opportunities and no rock unturned. Follow us as we add stamps to our passports one country at a time.

Our site is mainly focused on the photography aspect of traveling, our future posts (when we leave in March 2011) will be mainly photo essays, stories about the people we meet on our journey, and reviews of different places, experiences, etc.

I had been so idle after college and this travel blog experience really got me out of my cocoon. I want to be able to see the rest of the world past our Central/South America trip and I am determined to make this happen.

Hi Everyone,

I'm Laurel and I run the blog, Expat in Germany which I started in July.  It started off bemoaning the adventures of being an expat, but I'm moving more into travel advice, places to visit, etc. while still sharing the personal side of living in Germany.  I'm definitely looking to monetize my blog and frequently use SEO techqnuies such as carefully choosing key words and key word density.  I'm running into the problem that many people are in that time is an issue since I'm also taking an Intensive German Course which is the equivalent to a full time job.

I know many of you but am looking forward to "meeting" everyone else as we embark on this adventure together!

Cheers,

Laurel

Hi all

I started my blog at http://nateniale.blogspot.com/ about one and a half year ago just to jot down my thoughts after travelling. Mostly travels around South East Asia, and wherever else my travelling takes me. I hope that I'll be travelling more in the years to come like most of you here!

I hope to share my blog with more people. Been thinking about increasing the readership, but have no idea how to go about doing it! So, this is a good place to start.

I still have a long way to go. Hope to learn from all of you!

Welcome Barbara! It will be great to learn from you and your monetizing strategies as well as the process you went through in building up your blog and finding your niche. It is really interesting to see that monetizing is less difficult than gaining 1000 visitors :) Something for us all to strive for!

Hello everyone:

Just getting around to my introduction, what with the holidays and a hard drive that failed in my MacBook Pro. But here goes:

My blog, Hole In The Donut, is an intensely personal journal of my life as a perpetual traveler and digital nomad. These days, I specialize in cultural travel with a heavy emphasis on photography, but this didn't happen overnight. After years of working 70-80 hours a week at jobs that paid the bills but brought no joy, a serious illness made me realize that I felt like the proverbial "hole in the donut" – solid on the outside, but empty on the inside. A year later, fully recovered, I abandoned my career and home to travel around the world for six months, blogging about my journey so that friends and family would know what was happening to me on the road. As I searched for joy and meaning in my life, I realized that the only things that had ever made me happy were travel, photography and writing.

Four years later, I am still traveling and writing about my experiences on my blog, which has become one of the top 50 independent travel blogs in the world. About a year ago, realizing that it was foolish to keep an apartment with the amount of time I was traveling, I sold or gave away my remaining furniture and housewares, stored my few personal mementos, and embarked on a life of perpetual travel. These days, I am on the road 10-11 months per year, returning to the States once or twice a year to visit friends and family.

In the process of reinventing myself I was often challenged to "discover my niche" in the blogging world. Was my blog about solo travel, women's travel, traveling on a budget, or baby boomer travel? I was all of those things, but none of them was the focus of my blog. Gradually I realized that the common thread running through my writing was culture. I am fascinated by the customs, food, religion, family values, etc. of other countries, and try to immerse in the local culture at every destination I visit. As a result, I have learned that people everywhere are much the same; we share similar hopes and dreams and have nothing to fear from one another. I try to convey this message through my writing, as I have an enduring belief that the better we know one another, the less likely we will want to kill one another.

At the moment, I am earning at a level above the goal of the 1000-1000 challenge, but my traffic is hovering around 600 per day. I am at a plateau, and am looking forward to learning from this forum in order to reach that magic 30,000 number.

Hi guys,

I'm Renee and I run the travel blog A View To A Thrill which started out as a fun way to archive my travel memories.  I had no intention of going any further than sharing my photos and a few trip reports about my travels.  As I began to get more involved in the blogging community, I was surprised to see that many of the travel blogs were a great success.   So, I decided a little over a year ago to get serious.  I started a Facebook fan page and a twitter account to promote it, but I'm finding it's taking a lot longer and more time that I can spare to take it to the next level.  I have instituted a few things to help like using specific keywords for SEO purposes, went through a blog redesign, joined other travel communities like TBEX and I have seen some movement.  Currently, I average about 150 visitors a day.  On a couple of occasions a post has gone viral and I got 2k hits one day….a definite rarity.

My blog focuses on helping the newbie or any experienced traveler travel on a budget.  My motto is you can visit the same Eiffel tower as anyone else, but why pay full price to do it?  This demographic is important to me because I was one of those naysayers who were convinced that travel was for OTHER people.  I didn't have anyone there to encourage me to keep on pursuing my dream.  I want to be that push for others who feel the same way that I did.  It took me twenty years to convince myself that I could realize my dream of visiting Paris.  I don't want to see anyone else burn daylight the way that I did.  Cool

I own two other blogs that I post on sporadically, Writing for Fame and Bloom Where You are Planted, since I want the travel blog to be my main focus these days.  I am very excited about the 1000-1000 challenge because I want to learn as much as I can and share what little knowledge that I possess.  I love the thought of all of us wanting to do better and to help one another achieve their goals. Smile

I haven't been on a forum for years! It's like a throw back to the good ol days when I'd spend WAY too much time on the forums.

Its so awesome to find so many like minded people. So the 1000-1000 is an great idea. People helping people! What's even better is the people all have the same goal in mind.

Let's see. A little about me eh? Well like many of you I'm in love with travel. I've been a minimalist for a few years now and of course run a blog or two. You can find those below my post in my signature. I started my first real blog awhile back to basically just document my progress as a minimalist on my way to world travel.

After a few years I'm finally ready to start my journey and bought my first international flight. I'll be heading for Thailand at the end of January. The ticket is for two months but I hope that I don't have to use that return ticket! :)

I know there are a ton of pro bloggers and like minded people hang out all over Thailand I hope to meet and hang out with a lot of them.

I do my best to market myself as much as possible. Between Twitter, Facebook groups, other blog comments and even just word of mouth I'm really starting to see my traffic grow. I've got a fair amount to go to get to 1000 unique hits a day but I'll get there. I expect with regular posts from the road and really starting to interact with other bloggers that the traffic will start to grow even quicker.

I could go on and on but I'll keep it short for now.

If anyone has any questions or anything, I'm usually free to chat or help out in any way I can! Just shoot me a message!

Hi all,

My name is Nicolas and I'm the proud owner of http://www.nicolasdecorte.be .

What once started as a static web site, created to show my photos to family and friends (long before the Facebook days) has now grown to a real blog. My main interest are travel (duh!), photography, writing/blogging and minimalism, and these are also the main themes of my content.

I think this is the first travel blogging community for which you don't have to take an expensive course to gain access to (unlike e.g. MatadorU) and I'm happy to be part of it.

With an average of 5-10 visitors a day and 0$ earnings I still have a long way to go, so I hope that what I'll learn here will boost my skills.

You can find me around the internet:

Cheers!

Hey, how's it going?  Love the idea of this site and it's aims – there's plenty of room for us all to suceed so it's great that we can all help each other do so!

Well, I'm Dave, and I've been blogging for the last twelve months at What's Dave Doing? about my travels over the last 13 years, the places I go and people I meet along the way, and provide some advice and introspection about life with a long-term travel addiction.  Over the years I've developed a bias for slow, low-impact budget travel and that's very much my preference these days – although if someone insisted that they send me on an all expenses paid luxury trip, I guess I'd suffer through it…

I've just finished a six month wander around SE Asia and Europe and am currently cheerfully failing to settle back into life in Melbourne, Australia.  The intention is to make enough money to hit the road again sooner rather than later – or to just throw the backpack on again now and wait for the cash to run out entirely, one or the other.

I'm really keen to be a part of the 1000-1000 Challenge – probably averaging around 120 visits a day at the moment so still got a little way to go before joining the TBC Network, but it's great to have a goal!

Hi all,

We're Amy and Kieron and currently we're in the process of planning for a round-the-world trip starting mid-next year. We share our thoughts and experiences about planning and saving for a RTW on Don't Ever Look Back, as well as a mixture of other topics including our past travels and a focus on other #rtwsoon bloggers (we're all about building community!).

We'd love to get involved in the 1000-1000 Challenge. While we're still fairly new to the travel blogging caper (launched our site in October) and a fair way off 200 visits a day, we're growing quickly and hopefully will be able to join the TBC Network soon enough! :)

OK just signed up and going to get started on this.  Some of the people that have commented on posts know me already and it is my pleasure to know them! :)

If I were to introduce myself, I would say I am like most people on here – I like to travel.  However, I have tried to make it more challenging for myself these days by working full time, managing a blog and writing for a website, raising two little boys under the age of 3 while I am married to a wonderful wife, and being the sole bread winner for the home.

Immediately, three things should jump out – I am broke (Ha!), budget travel is my thing, and family travel is something that is important.  Maybe this makes me unique that I am pursuing this given these circumstances.  However, I have seen 34 states here in the US and traveled to 17 different countries so travel is a passion of mine.

I like to think I am a little different and hope my blog reflects that.  Budget Travel Intentions is about my experiences, stories, and travel tips on getting the most out of travel with a family without spending a lot of money.  In the process of writing, I've shared that I am not a big fan of Christmas, have been in love with an Estonian girl, have interviewed various travel writers and bloggers, host the travel tuesday question of the week on Twitter, and have never known what I wanted to do with my life.  And the blog is just a recent hobby.

For more than a year, I've written over 300 articles on travel, deals, travel tips, and trave news as the Sacramento Budget Travel Examiner.  That's where my focus has been but now I want to make by writing and blogging a little more personal.  I'm overworked, underpaid, love my family more than anything, and have a passion for writing and travel.

So as uniquely me as I can be, here I go!

Hey Poi and Kristy,

Great to have you two on board!! I'm very jealous you're in Chang Mai as its one of my favorit places. I have a great story of getting stuck in a forest fire while treking there :)

If you're looking for people to interview feel free to post in the Blogger's Common Room, its there to help us connect and support each other. Oh, and I'd be happy to do an interview :)

Hello we're up for starting this challenge!

We are Poi and Kirsty and write about our travels at No Place To Be. We're currently living in Chiang Mai for a few months on our way round South East Asia. We travel slow and have been on the road for nearly 4 months. Our website is mainly about our own travels but we also try to provide information for other travellers

We also feature a "random traveller" once a week – if you would like to be interviewed give us a shout!

At the moment we're getting about 100 visits a day, good days they are peaking at near to 200 :-)
