Talking about spam, I found this in my spambox this morning:

"Hi, it’s spam bot, please, delete this message and i never return I promise."

WTF (excuse my French)

You need to choose the "individual plan" (or whatever it's called, not the pro plan), and there you get to choose how much you pay. You can choose $0.

You know Mike I tried to sign up to that service which stated it was free, but when I tried it, it keep re-directing me to a payment page.  Is it no longer free?  I'll check it out again & see.  Still working on a zero budget right now.  thanks for the tip.

I use Akismet plugin and never have much of a problem with spammers. Maybe 2 or 3 a day but once the ip is registered I do not get any more from them.

Hey David, yes most are spam and I trash them.  I've recently been getting great comments with a strange email address and Google.com, Bing.com, Yahoo.com or my favourite, facebook.com as the URL.  I trashed them too.  Oh & I just ignore the email.  I am going to expand my filtered list of unacceptable words this week and see if that cut down on them.   Thanks for you help.

Hey Todd WB.  I do the same, I do go through them and add some of the comments.  Now I'm just pressing "Bulk Trash",  and un-tick the non spammy ones.  I don't know who is coaching these spammers.  99% of the site are totally unrelated to my site's topic and would not be a great back link if that is what they are after.  I'm rather do them a favour by trashing them. lol

yeah, I had to lessen my time on the forums here with everything going on in my life. but I'm back now. I HATE spammers with a passion. But I do try to take the time to find legit ones that get lost in my spam filters.

Glad to see you back on your own forum Todd (just teasing). ;-)

Talking about spam comment, I've recently started to get a new kind that really looks like a legit comment.

It's not from a robot, and the person did read – or at least skim – through the post, although the content is always pretty bad.

The first time I got some of that kind I almost fell for it. The only thing that made me suspicious was that two new comments showed up a couple of minutes from each other on two old posts that hadn't been commented on in weeks if not months.

And upon closer inspection, there you had it, the links associated to the comment were totally spammy.

If your site gets numerous comments, they're easy to miss.

Hi AJ an David,

That looks like a spam attempt to me. In terms of protocol, I have a spam filter. I check spam often as some legitimate posts make it through. For me is anything even smells like spam i delete it. Either you engage on the site or not, those are the rules here and on my other sites. People are always welcome to criticize etc and I will never delete those. But anything self promotional goes to the trash.

Concerning the e-mail, I have no idea (but at first sight it seems spammy to me).

Concerning comments, I filter everything, and approve anything that is not spammy (nor insulting).

Hello everyone/anyone

I received this blog comment on my post today, can anyone tell me if there maybe any substance to it or is it a ruse

COMMENT

"What’s up?, Love website basically
a observation that I was getting instantly redirected to your homepage
once I viewed this inner web page; It appeared to be a internet browser
hi-jack as well, I’m not really too absolutely sure but thought you
might be made aware about it. Take care"

Also, what is the protocol for accepting comments on your blog.  I'm getting spammed but can recognize  those easily & delete them.  But I'm also getting a lot of non-English sights (incredible amounts), as though someone is just directing them to me for the fun of it.  And it's just too hard too  translate them to view the content etc.

What is the general rule or protocol for accepting comments from other websites?  Should I be only accepting travel related sites?  Mainly travel sites etc??? I dunno

Thanks in advance

AJ
