Hey Todd,

 

Thanks for your thoughts. I really hadn't been doing much of anything in terms of marketing and SEO, but I guess since I have 5 solid months of content that I should really be working on getting more in the know with that stuff and see where that takes me. Thanks for the tips.

There is also a section at the bottom of the forums for Site reviews. Unfortunately, it has not gotten much traction. Maybe you could try again down there as well.

What are your readership numbers like now? In general your blog "looks" fine (mike already gave you the SEO perspective). There is an article here about increasing your traffic, have you tried any of those suggestions?

Getting a readership has a lot to do with Marketing. You need to market both to Google (SEO) and to the wider target audience. The first step in is to find your audience. Where do they hang out, how can you get them to visit your site? Once they get to your site you need to entice them. At the moment you have adds on the top right sidebar. I wonder if that's the best use of that spot if you want to hook your reader in and keep them coming back. I have video on mine that I hope gets them to related to me better and remember me.

The other way is that you need to figure out what makes you unique from all the other travel bloggers out there, and then push on that angle, hard.

 

Just some thoughts.

Obviously your site is about much more than that. When ever you use a html tag or a bold in your content it tells Google that this is the most important information. Try bolding or using h2 tags for the subject. What would you type into google search to find this post if you were looking for this information? Those are the words you want to have stand out.

From a SEO standpoint you are telling the search engines a bunch of lies. Surprised

This is why… The way you are using html tags you are telling the search engines that the following terms are what your website is about.

Hi All,

 

Not sure if this is the best place to post this, Todd please advise if not, but I would really love to get some feedback regarding my blog. I have been doing it for 5 months now, and have seen a very slow uptick in readership, but I am still very low. I know it is a marathon, not a race, but I'm not sure if there is something blatantly obvious my blog has something to work on that I might be missing? Any comments would be very helpful if anyone is interested, I would really appreciate it!
