It's going to be a monthly contest, and I'm going to "assign" 5 people to each month. This was the only way I could think of to keep the entries manageable. If I were to get, say, 20+ entries per month, that would be a really loooong post for people to have to read in order to vote.

I'm also going to post the photo on my Facebook fan page each month, and accept 1 or 2 additional entries from there.

If anyone else wants to get involved, let me know, and I'll add you to my list!

Sounds good to me.  I like the ideas people come up with of including each other as part of their blog.  Of course something everyone does is guest posts and interviews but I like these more creative ideas.

I like it.  Actually, I think overall it's a great exercise to challenge us to become more creative writers.  This 'forces' us to perfect our craft and is fun at the same time.  Great idea!!

One of Todd's Blog Homework topics a while back was all about writing stories. This week, I got some inspiration for a new (perhaps monthly?) feature on my blog that would incorporate some story-telling from different bloggers, and run kind of like a contest.

Everyone knows the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words," so the idea kind of builds off of that.

Basically, what I would do is compile a list of different bloggers who were interested in participating. Then, I would send them all the same photo — any photo that strikes me as interesting. For the first go-round, I'll use one of my own photos. The bloggers participating would have to write a story in 150 words or less to go along with the photo.

Then I think I would ask readers to leave comments "voting" for their favorite story. And I would offer something small to the winner — perhaps a gift card, or buying them a guidebook or something.

I may also let people submit their 150-word stories via Facebook, to try and build up some itneraction.

If you think this is something you'd be interested in participating in, please let me know!

(Also, what do you think about the 150 word limit? Too tough? Or just challenging enough?)
