Now that you mention it, yeah, maybe I unchecked this long time ago, to avoid e-mail flooding when commenting on a popular page.
But yeah, G+ manages that much better and in a non-invasive way.

Hi David, actually you can change your setting in facebook so that you get e-mail updates when others comment on something you write on my FB page. You can also get e-mail updates :) I think in a lot of ways FB always had these options but they have been buried and hard to implement. Google+ brings them front and center which makes it easier on everyone.

One thing you could use G+ efficiently with Todd is little discussions you have with your followers.
Just like what you do on your Facebook page, except that on FB pages, they're set up in such a way that it seems that everyone is talking to you, but nobody doesn't really talk with anybody else (my feeling). It's not your readers fault (and I include myself here) but the way FB pages are set up.
When I comment on one of your updates, I'll be notified when you respond, but not when other readers respond.
With G+ it's very easy to either follow everyone's intervention and have a real discussion.

Same thing with people who send FB messages to a bunch of people who don't know each other and afterwards we have no other choice but receive every answer whether we like it or not (please, people never send mass e-mails through FB, ever...) With G+, you can do that as an update that people can subsequently follow or ignore.

I've added the rel="author" to all of my sites now, just waiting for google to do something with it now.
Actually I have an html question, can you have several "rel" in the same link?

By the way, I've just started testing the rel="author" feature with G+.
I'll write an add-on here if you want to know more once I have the thing working (well, when Google has the thing working on SERPs related to my sites)

Hi Laurel, I agree that I was hesitant to really get into Google+. I still only flirt with it at the moment but I believe that Google+ will start influencing search results. If this happens, then we will all have to work with it.

I groaned when I first heard about Google+, it just seemed like one more thing to do, but I really like the idea of circles. I haven't been as active on it as I should be, but plan to use it more as I can't believe how quickly it's growing.
